The role:

S&P Global Market Intelligence is seeking a London-based reporter for its growing digital news team covering banking and other financial institutions in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

You will produce several insightful news and analysis stories a week. You will help shape our daily coverage and tell stories using the full range of formats, from breaking news to feature-length reportage, bolstered by data, including our own extensive array of market, regulatory, corporate and alternative data sets. We are increasingly using emergent media such as audio to reach new readers.

The impact:

Our real-time, subscription-based news service reaches an influential worldwide readership, including investment bankers, credit risk analysts, buy- and sell-side teams, and regulators. The news we provide is an essential part of S&P Global Market Intelligence's product offering.

As part of our growing newsroom, staff have the opportunity to move up into editorial leadership roles within S&P Global Market Intelligence and across the entire S&P Global group. This role comes with a competitive remuneration package and attractive employee benefits.

The Team:

With nearly 500 journalists across five continents, S&P Global Market Intelligence is expanding its coverage of financial. markets and sector-specific news.

The successful candidate will work closely with banking, insurance and financial services editors and journalists around the world and in our growing London newsroom.

Our hiring manager says:

We are looking for a business reporter who is passionate about generating lively, authoritative copy for a discerning audience. The successful candidate will write a range of proprietary news stories, features and news analysis on the European banking market, reporting on earnings and financials, technology trends, ESG and regulatory issues.

The successful candidate will have:

Experience as a business reporter and will bring a contact book of analysts and industry commentators to the role. A familiarity with banks and/or the financial markets would be an advantage, as would knowledge of a European language apart from English.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Proven experience of professional journalism experience
  • Strong writing and reporting skills, along with excellent news judgement
  • Ability to work independently
  • Fluency in English is necessary. Knowledge of one or more other major European languages would be a plus
