City A.M. is looking to hire a deputy editor. This is an exceptional opportunity to run a leading financial newspaper alongside editor Christian May.

The successful candidate will be a journalist with a superb track record and a comprehensive understanding of London's financial and business sectors along with a wider interest in economics, policy and politics.

The role is editorial and managerial. Candidates should have experience of running a team of reporters, helping them break stories and produce impeccable, sharp news copy.

They must be able to spot legally-sensitive stories and work with reporters to improve copy and develop content. They must be prepared to take on managerial responsibilities and help run a busy print and digital newsroom of 30+ editorial staff.

The successful applicant will have the ability and confidence to shape the front page of the newspaper when required.

They will be able to write two Leader columns per week, encapsulating the newspaper's editorial perspective on a variety of topical subjects covering corporate, economic and political news.

The deputy editor's week runs Sunday to Thursday. Days typically end around 8pm but can run later.

Candidates must possess extremely high levels of literacy and numeracy.
