Sightsavers, Global Social Media Officer - 12 Month FTC
Our vision is of a world where no one is needlessly blind and where people with visual impairments and other disabilities have their rights upheld and live without discrimination. Each year, we improve the lives of millions of people in the poorest parts of the world.
Sightsavers is growing rapidly and offers a great place to work. Our headquarters are located within easy reach of London and Brighton and we have offices in overseas countries.
The Global Social Media Officer will use all streams of social media to build an international community online while engaging existing supporters to promote and raise the profile of Sightsavers, particularly in the USA, Sweden and Norway.
In a crowded marketplace, you will ensure that Sightsavers stands out by using innovative and creative Social Media processes to further build and establish the organisation’s existing online presence.
This is a particularly exciting time to be joining Sightsavers.
As Global Social Media Officer, you will support and promote the incredible work of the organisation, with a particular focus on fundraising, neglected tropical disease communications, campaigns, advocacy and outreach to journalists and bloggers.
You will support the day-to-day running of international social media channels, providing content and growing our social media presence within the USA and Nordic countries as well as assisting with other international markets.
You will have the opportunity to explore new and existing markets and highlight areas for content collection and creation.
Reputation management is a vital role of the Media Team. You will develop and manage relationships with international influencers, bloggers, vloggers and journalists (both online and through traditional media outlets).
You will also identify opportunities to increase their involvement to reach new audiences and secure high-profile endorsements.
As Global Social Media Officer, you will react and respond effectively to PR and media opportunities.
You will be confident using social media platforms in a professional manner, as well as using analytical and monitoring tools. You will ideally have a degree (or similar) in marketing, media, journalism or digital communications.
An excellent knowledge of international development, eye health and/or the NGO sector would be advantageous.
