Job Details

One in five people in the UK are affected by lung disease and the British Lung Foundation (BLF) is there for every one of them.

The BLF is the only UK charity for those affected by all lung and respiratory diseases – from mild asthma to lung cancer. We provide support, fund vital research, and campaign for better prevention, treatment and care.

We’re looking for a press and campaigns officer with a talent for finding and telling stories and who wants to fight to make sure that one day everyone will breathe clean air with healthy lungs.

We are looking for an experienced journalist or press officer who has experience of working for an agency, in the private, public sector or third sector, has demonstrable experience of undertaking media work and has experience of campaigning.

The role holder will be the main contact for all media enquiries and should be able to confidently pitch to regional and national outlets. You’ll have a friendly approach which will help you to dig out stories raising awareness of our work.

This is a fantastic chance to work in a fast-moving press office and take responsibility for creating compelling content for traditional and social media. If this sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you.

Not only are we the only UK charity looking after the nation’s lungs but also a fantastic employer. We have recently been nationally recognised as a fantastic place to work after earning a place at no.45 in the Sunday Times best 100 not for profit organisations. This is a great achievement as only the organisations with the highest level of employee engagements qualify for the list.

As well as a competitive salary you can enjoy a range of benefits including our cycle to-work scheme, option to work flexibly (including working from home, compressed hours and flexi-time), interest-free annual season travelcard loan, 30 days annual leave plus bank holidays (pro-rata for part-time employees), pension scheme and much more.

This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to an organisation committed to supporting everyone whose life is changed by lung disease.
