Mark Allen Aviation & Auto (part of the Mark Allen Group) is seeking a passionate and talented editor to join its team working on two industry-leading B2B titles – Traffic Technology International and iVT International – based in Dartford, Kent.

The right candidate will have an ability to take technical copy and make it easy and enjoyable to read while still being informative, as well as the creative flair to come up with new feature ideas and imaginative ways to use photographs and illustrations.

Candidates must also be proficient in the use of InDesign and demonstrate an ability to edit copy cleanly. A background in sub-editing could be an advantage here.

Organisational skills and the ability to work quickly and accurately under deadline pressure are also important, as is the ability to liaise professionally with clients on advertorial copy.

Traffic Technology International is the world’s leading publication for traffic managers, focusing particularly on intelligent transport systems (ITS), as well as key transportation growth areas such as connected and autonomous vehicles and smart cities. The brand is now in its 25th year and includes a bimonthly magazine and a website that is updated daily.

iVT (Industrial Vehicle Technology) International is aimed at the designers of off-highway vehicles for the construction, agriculture, mining, forestry and material handling industries – and beyond. It is also the leading title in its field, having been published for over 20 years. It too has a print magazine (published quarterly) and website, with daily news.

The new deputy or assistant editor will work across both titles and will, in addition to editing skills, have the ability to write features and news stories for web and print, as well as report from exciting industry events, which take place all around the world. Some event locations for the two titles over the past three years have included Melbourne, Montreal, Las Vegas, Amsterdam, Munich and Copenhagen. International travel to events in locations such as these will be necessary for the right candidate.

Commissioning experience and an interest in the specific subject areas covered could be an advantage, though it is not essential. Writing and editing skills and a passion for magazine and web publishing are much more important.

Salary and title will be commensurate with ability and experience.
