Job Details

The Podcast Editor will be the main editorial contact for our growing audio output, predominantly covering podcasts.

Key responsibilities:

  • Working with newsdesks, Head of Special Projects and our commercial team to develop our audio journalism offering and build concepts for new shows and series.
  • Develop new and exciting formats for podcasts, working with video and audio production team to manage production of these in-house and at outsourced facilities, management of budget, both editorial and from sponsorship.
  • Act as key point of contact for editorial, technical and commercial stakeholders at The Telegraph for our audio content - including in-house talent.
  • Assist with production and editing of podcast output.
  • Manage and coach our small team of audio bulletin producers and to help us innovate with new formats for Telegraph audio services.


Essential skills required for the role:

  • Audio production background with demonstrable experience of working on range of high-profile output.
  • Proven ability to develop ground-breaking formats for audio shows that will delight our audience, with new ways to tell stories and cover the issues, events and topics that matter.
  • Strong editorial judgment, to identify the best areas in which to take our audio coverage.
  • Full knowledge of media law. You will ideally have a journalistic or content production (rather than technical) background.
  • Audio editing skills for digital output (Adobe Audition, Premiere and After Effects preferred).
  • Deep understanding of the competitive landscape for podcasts.


Additional skills useful for the role:

  • Some knowledge of emerging platforms such as Amazon Echo/Show, Google Home etc. is advantageous
  • Experience as an on-air broadcaster/newsreader would be a bonus.
