The team:

We are looking for a Forward Planning Editor / TV Writer to work for The Sun, News International – TV Mag & TV Soap.

This role will be working closely with schedulers, PRs, industry experts and insiders to ensure the editorial team have unrivalled forward-planning information and to ensure TV Mag has the best knowledge of upcoming TV shows, schedules, casting, filming plans and new commissions.

Day to day you will:     

  • Liaise regularly with PRs and schedulers both on the phone, by email and in person to keep on top of the TV schedules and have a clear view of when key shows are due to air.
  • Find out about new TV shows that are in production so the features team can arrange access.
  • Have the key responsibility of effectively feeding that forward-planning information back to the editorial team.
  • Compile and edit a crucial forward-planning document and work out the best way to distribute this to the team.
  • Deliver daily guidance to the features team on any schedule changes or anticipated schedule changes
  • For key dramas, high-rating TV shows or streaming series, have strong ideas of when interviews should run and build the trust of PRs to learn when key episodes are coming up. 
  • Create and edit weekly listings list for previews – regularly updating as the schedules change – and to write previews, carry out interviews, attend set visits or write features when necessary.
  • Attend screenings/Q&As and other events out of normal working hours as required for production of the magazine, and to frequently show willingness to do so.
  • Recognise and act upon any potential legal issues and acting in accordance with the PCC Code of Conduct.
