The Sunday Mirror & The Sunday People are looking to recruit an Artist to join their team here within our Canary Wharf office.

Within this position, the successful candidate will be responsible for designing, editing, image production and finishing page layouts and editorial pages for our much loved Sunday titles.

Working closely with the Art Director, Night Editors, Sub Editors, Picture Editor, News and Feature Editors you will ensure that the production of the paper is polished, perfected and ready to go to print before the deadline.

In this role you will plan pages, source copy and images to complement editorial content for our readers, so a creative eye is key!

This role will be working every Friday 11am-7pm and Saturday 11am -12pm

Key Responsibilities:

• To design and edit news and features pages quickly and artistically. Design back of the book feature pages
• To source, edit and retouch pictures
• Designing pages in InDesign
• Editing pictures in Photoshop
• To collaborate in the newsroom and to engage and support other departments
• Check all pages, chase anything missing and make sure all images have been processed before they are sent to QAD
• To complete all tasks in accordance with IPSO and legal requirements.
• To complete all tasks within deadline

The Ideal Candidate

You will have previous experience working within a fast paced newsroom and will have ideally worked in a similar role previously.

You will prided yourself on tackling all challenges and tasks with the highest level of professionalism, and you will thrive in a team environment.

You will be a skilled designer with a strong understanding of page layout and design, and will be confident with Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and knowledge of Illustrator is an advantage.
