Your role:

Helping to organise a rota of Photographers to make sure they are covering the major news stories of the day, editing and choosing the best photographs, researching pictures needed by the paper, contributing picture ideas for Editorial conference, being aware of budget constraints and working under pressure and to deadlines

Day to day you will: 

  • Working flexibly across platforms, supplying visual content as needed
  • Having a clear understanding of the editorial and visual objectives of the Sun
  • Managing relationships with agencies and other external contacts to source or commission original, distinctive images where appropriate
  • Take full responsibility for pages, including legal and IPSO considerations
  • Working with a tight budget to ensure resources are used efficiently


What we’re looking for from you:

  • Understands The Sun’s DNA and able to bring it to life in pages
  • Must have photographers’ agency contact alongside a qualification or strong experience in journalism or photography
  • Experience establishing strong working relationships and building credibility with senior managers
  • Reads The Sun every day and knows what readers expect
  • Understands the production process and prepared to be flexible in responsibilities
  • Able to influence the Sun newsroom
  • Highly organised and able to work in a fast-paced, changing environment
  • Resilient, focused and calm under pressure
  • Aware of legal and IPSO considerations
  • Available to do night shifts
