Reuters is looking for an energetic, insightful and inspiring chief correspondent to lead our stock market reporting from around Europe at a critical juncture for the continent financially, economically and politically.
The Chief Correspondent oversees a frontline team tracking market behaviour and investment decisions amid trade wars, Brexit and extraordinary monetary policy as well the digital disruption of the “fourth industrial revolution”.
You will need to be as comfortable with the forensics of protracted takeover battles as you are with the nods and winks of incoming European Central Bank chief Christine Lagarde and will steer both our regular stock market reporting and our Stocks Buzz offering on hot stocks/sectors and our brand new LiveMarkets blog on market research, graphics and daily zeitgeist.
Leading from the front, you will also need to seed ideas for initiative analysis and investigations by the rest of the team as well displaying excellent mentoring and writing skills.
The ideal candidate will have first-class news judgment and excellent markets knowledge and sources, be a fluent writer and a strong leader able to motivate a five-person team based mainly in London.
- Experience managing teams, with proven ability to spot and nurture talent
- Track record of making contacts with market participants and using them to break news
- Deep knowledge of financial markets and excellent news judgment, editing and writing skills
- Extensive experience as a journalist at a major news outlet
