The Register, one of the world’s largest technology news websites, is hiring reporters.

Renowned throughout the IT industry for its punchy, informed and original reporting on everything from the Spectre and Meltdown CPU design flaws, to irreverent takes on failing projects and ill-advised government policy, The Register is a must read for millions of IT professionals.

The full-time reporting roles are based in our London office.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Generating news ideas
• Writing news and analysis
• Building industry contacts
• Occasional national and international work travel 

The ideal candidate will have a general knowledge of the IT industry, including the major players - e.g HPE, Cisco and Huawei - and those corporations that are emerging, and have a personal interest in technology.

The team at The Register are known for having the insight and tenacity to pursue original angles on the day’s news as well as breaking our own scoops.

Our reporting is often cited by national news organisations, including the BBC, The Times and major newswires. Our alumni have left to work at Bloomberg, the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, the Telegraph and The Sun.

There is no one model of journalist who thrives at The Register. We have taken on ‘traditional’ reporters looking for their second or third news jobs in journalism as well as software engineers and former tech company execs. 

We are looking for journalists with a hunger to break great stories, a curiosity to dig deeper and a keen mind to unpick marketing waffle. 

Salary will depend on experience but starts at £35,000 per annum. Great range of benefits include flexible working, a pension and 26 days annual holiday allowance.
