At Mercury Press and our sister agency Caters News, our journalists fill global publications with top quality stories every day.

Caters has also grown to become a trusted video content supplier to hundreds of editorial and commercial clients globally, providing TV networks, websites and social media pages with top quality footage every day – from breaking news to the hottest viral content and most incredible wildlife clips.

This role is the chance to be part of a growing video sourcing team in Mercury Press’ vibrant Liverpool office, working in partnership with the main videodesk at Caters HQ in Birmingham.

We are looking for a persuasive and determined individual with the confidence and people skills necessary to persuade even the most reluctant contributor to share their footage with the world.

You’ll be expected to generate your own ideas, so strong news sense and a thirst for tracking down unique videos which will make international headlines across multiple platforms before they trend is essential.

As well as being able to spot the best viral content, you’ll be ambitious and hard-working enough to stay ahead of the competition and ensure you’re the first person to license it.

Our new recruit will have a sharp eye for detail, will work well to tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment and will have an understanding of the constantly evolving digital media and video licensing landscape.

You must be a strong communicator, comfortable working as part of a team but with the initiative to manage your own time effectively, as well as results-driven and not afraid of targets.

The right candidate will also be well versed in all forms of social media and with an understanding of copyright law.

Strong written and spoken English is a must, while conversational knowledge of a major foreign language is desired, but not essential.
